Job SummaryThe Director leads clinical programs and metrics within the Division of Cardiology, serves as Medical Director for the Heart and Vascular Center, and drives operational excellence, quality improvement, and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as Medical Director for the Heart and Vascular Center
- Act as liaison between Cardiology and UCHealth operations, quality, safety, nursing; partner with Medical Directors and hospital Clinical Directors
- Champion patient, staff, and provider experience and a just‑culture; implement feedback loops and rapid‑cycle improvement
- Co‑develop and track annual Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) aligned with UCHealth priorities (mortality, complications/HAIs, readmissions, PROs, CG‑CAHPS)
- Lead QI projects and oversee registry participation (e.g., NCDR, GWTG, TVT/STS), ensuring reliable data capture and learning
- Partner with the Division Head, Section Heads, and UCHealth leadership to set and achieve strategic recruitment goals (physicians and APPs)
- Lead business planning for new programs; monitor RVUs, room/slot utilization, and cost stewardship
- Serve on division/department/hospital/service‑line committees and initiatives as requested by the Division Head
- Participate in setting quarterly goals, reviewing OKRs/metrics, and iterating via PDSA cycles
- Currently appointed or able to be appointed to the University of Colorado School of Medicine faculty
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado
- Ability to obtain prescriptive authority (DEA License)
- Minimum of five years of experience, including leadership and operations
- Associate Professor or Professor preferred, on track for promotion
- Previous Section Head or similar role with demonstrated leadership ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels; outstanding customer service skills
- Highly analytical; talent for identifying, improving, and streamlining complex processes
- Innovative problem‑solver who generates workable solutions and resolves complaints
- Attention to detail, responsive, and timely

Pay Range$230,000 – $235,000.
