Job Description & How to Apply Below

SE Group is seeking a Document Production Specialist to join our team. Our Mountain Planning, Environmental, and Community Planning teams produce robust, technical documentation and reports for our clients – and we are looking for someone to format, organize, and get those documents out the door.

So, if you are a formatting ‘wizard’ who is highly organized and detail oriented – and you’re interested in working on a wide variety of recreation-based topics and projects – we want to hear from you!

About SE Group

At SE Group, our work is grounded in the belief that outdoor recreational experiences are a powerful foundation for thriving communities. This belief is the driving force behind our passion for uncovering the unique potential of every place and space we serve.

SE Group has been the industry leader in the planning and design of mountain resorts since 1958. Over the years, our team has grown to include landscape architects, community planners, environmental analysts, and economic advisors who are pioneering how communities across the country think about recreation, tourism, and outdoor spaces.

With hubs in Utah, Colorado, and Vermont, we are lucky to live in the heart of some of the amazing recreational communities we serve. We all share a passion for getting outside (in its many diverse forms) and SE Group is committed to offering an exceptional employee experience that honors this, as well as one that promotes collaboration, mentorship, growth - and laughter!

Position Priorities

This position will work closely with project managers and technical staff on a variety of projects in Environmental and Mountain Planning, but with opportunities to support the broader team elsewhere.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Document set‑up: manage the layout for long, complex documents (50 – 100+ pages)
  • Formatting: apply and maintain consistent use of styles, templates, and formatting standards
  • Document Management: build all aspects of our technical deliverables, including:
    • Tables of contents, list of figures
    • Cross‑references, captions, footnotes/endnotes
    • Section breaks, headers/footers, page numbering
    • Glossary
    • Index
    • List of tables
  • Design: thoughtfully incorporate and edit embedded logos, pictures, graphics, and maps
  • QA/QC: perform detailed review for errors, consistency, and professionalism
  • Production: prepare documents for final delivery (merging, PDF conversion, accessibility, print‑production)
  • Templates: support the development of Word templates to be used by other technical staff
  • Innovation: lead research on AI tools and products for document production

Applicants must have an Associate degree or equivalent professional experience in document production, technical editing, or related field.
This position is mainly designed for candidates with 2-6 years of professional experience in document production or a related field.

Other required skills and experience include:

  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills – you live for Word styles and formatting!
  • Advanced Adobe Acrobat skills – you also have a deep understanding of PDF properties such as bookmaking and linking
  • Experience with technical, environmental, or other planning documents – you don’t have to have experience in our line of work, but experience managing long documents is required
  • Highly detailed oriented – you have a QA/QC ‘mindset’
  • Demonstrated experience working with accessibility requirements – here we are explicitly thinking about 508 Compliance Standards and Colorado HB21-1110 requirements
  • Demonstrated ability work efficiently under deadlines with multiple contributors – this work will require you to be highly organized
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high results in an independent work setting – you’ll be asked to stay on task with minimal oversight
  • Preferred: proficient graphic design skills (InDesign) – while this is not a design job, if you understand InDesign and some of the associated accessibility protocols, you'll have a leg up
  • Preferred: experience working on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, such as Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, or Categorical Exclusions
