The Rebar Project Engineer supports Project Management, Detailing, Production, and Field Operations by coordinating project documentation, reviewing reinforcing steel drawings, maintaining project records, and ensuring accurate information flows between planning and execution. This role serves as an important liaison between Project Managers, detailers, fabrication teams, field personnel, installers, and other project stakeholders. The Rebar Project Engineer helps ensure reinforcing steel projects are completed accurately and on schedule by maintaining current project information, supporting drawing and submittal processes, performing quality-control reviews, and communicating production priorities.
This position provides an opportunity to develop technical and project management expertise while progressing toward a Project Manager role.
- Create and maintain organized project files and job folder structures for new and active projects
- Maintain project logs including RFIs, change orders, submittals, drawings, revisions, and other project documentation
- Process, distribute, and maintain current drawings for contractors, installers, production teams, and other stakeholders
- Ensure project documentation remains accurate, current, complete, and accessible throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain appropriate document and revision control to ensure teams are working from the most current information
- Scan, upload, and organize shipping documents, project correspondence, and related records within company systems
- Acquire and maintain mill certifications, certificates of compliance, and other required project documentation
- Support Project Managers with administrative and technical project requirements
- Review rebar shop drawings against structural drawings to identify discrepancies and support drawing accuracy
- Perform quality-control reviews of commercial and residential bar lists
- Review project documentation for completeness before information is released to Production
- Identify potential drawing, quantity, or documentation concerns and communicate them promptly to Project Management
- Support internal and external detailing processes by maintaining accurate drawing transmittal information
- Help minimize fabrication errors, field issues, and project delays through accurate document and drawing review
- Serve as a communication link between Project Management and Production teams
- Communicate urgent tag requests and production priorities to the appropriate fabrication personnel
- Coordinate project information with Shop Production Management, Field Services, and third-party installers
- Provide Production with accurate and current project documentation needed to support fabrication
- Monitor project priorities and communicate changes that may affect fabrication or delivery schedules
- Assist in resolving documentation or drawing-related issues that could impact production
- Support jobsite inspections and field activities as needed
- Communicate with Field Services personnel and third-party installers regarding project requirements
- Assist Project Managers with resolution of field questions and project documentation needs
- Help ensure field teams have access to current drawings and project information
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and coordination activities as required
- Work closely with Project Managers, detailers, Production, Field Services, Shipping, and Operations teams
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external project stakeholders
- Support collaboration between office, fabrication, and field teams throughout project execution
- Maintain confidentiality of customer, project, and company information
- Participate in training and skills development designed to build project management capabilities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on project accuracy, communication, quality, and operational efficiency
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
