Job SummaryThe Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine seeks a doctoral‑level clinical or outcomes researcher with experience in patient‑oriented human subjects research or health care systems research. The successful candidate will join a collaborative research team within a School of Medicine clinical and translational research program, contribute to the department’s mission of improving patient care, and advance an independent research agenda.
This position offers an academic career path based on experience and accomplishments, with opportunities for growth and development.
- Publish no fewer than two high‑impact products of scholarship per year (peer‑reviewed manuscripts, treatises, chapters, tests, or significant curricular offerings), with leadership (first or senior author) on at least one of these.
- Collaborate with emergency medicine faculty on extramural funding, manuscript preparation, publication, and conference presentations.
- Advance knowledge in a field of study by developing new theories, expanding upon existing ideas, and improving application in new settings.
- Serve as Principal Investigator, Co‑PI, or co‑investigator on research projects.
- Prepare scientific grants, contracts, budgets, and periodic reports, meeting deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical guidelines.
- Conduct needs assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and sustainment of change initiatives.
- Perform laboratory research as appropriate to the area of expertise on an occasional basis.
- Develop a professional development plan with department support for innovation in the field.
- Contribute to the university’s educational mission through didactic or experiential teaching for learners at all levels.
- Mentor learners on research projects relevant to the candidate’s expertise.
- Pursue continuous professional development and growth, including faculty development participation.
- Serve on departmental and school committees as required.
- Participate in and lead meetings: departmental faculty meetings, Monthly Scientist Training and Intensive Mentoring (STIM) sessions, departmental research meetings, and other project or team meetings.
