This posting describes a Pediatrics Specialty Liaison role for the Longmont/Boulder LIC site within the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education / Office of Medical Education (SOM).

Job Summary

The Office of Medical Education (OME) with the University of Colorado’s School of Medicine (SOM) is searching for a Pediatrics Specialty Liaison for the Longmont/Boulder LIC site. The LIC model integrates core clinical education longitudinally, primarily in outpatient settings, with immersions in hospital-based training. Core competencies cover care of adults, children, and pregnant patients, taught by providers across family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, surgery, and emergency medicine.

The longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) emphasizes patient care over time, ongoing relationships with clinicians, and meeting core clinical competencies continuously through experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inpatient Immersion Oversight:
    Oversee and coordinate inpatient immersion experiences for all LIC students at the Longmont/Boulder LIC site. Develop protocols and systems to facilitate longitudinal patient care, including follow-up of inpatients and specialty care.
  • Faculty and Preceptor Development:
    Recruit and oversee preceptors; provide ongoing education on student roles in patient care and best practices for teaching LIC students; provide continuous faculty development related to longitudinal precepting, mentoring, and assessment.
  • Curriculum and Teaching:
    Collaborate with Clinical Core Directors to ensure LIC students achieve competency across required domains; develop specialty-specific didactic content; facilitate and/or teach or recruit for specialty-specific didactic sessions.
  • Student Assessment and Support:
    Assist in regular student assessments, conduct direct observations, identify students needing additional support; collaborate on remediation plans; gather assessments, create summary reports, and participate in grading meetings.
  • Program Administration:
    Assist in the overall administration and management of LIC programs at the LIC site as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: This is an open rank position; may be categorized as Instructor, Sr. Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on experience and qualifications. Applicants must be a board-certified physician with an MD or DO degree and be able to obtain the corresponding faculty appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

  • Assistant Professor: board-certified physician; MD or DO; eligible for Assistant Professor appointment

  • Professor: board-certified physician; MD or DO; eligible for Professor appointment

Preferred Qualifications: Program management and coordination skills; ability to communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, and leadership; experience in medical education and curriculum development; experience with blended teams.
