University of Colorado Anschutz Sr. Assistant Dean of Academic Operations (Administrative Faculty Appointment)

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a strong faculty leader to serve as the Senior Assistant Dean of Academic Operations. The candidate will hold a faculty appointment in the IRC-Instructional Series at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and will dedicate release time to the administrative faculty position. Service and scholarship to the university and the college are expected of all faculty members.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate technological systems within the College of Nursing’s Office of Academic Programs (OAP).
  • Lead a team responsible for academic workflow processes that support the strategic initiatives of the OAP, including instructional design.
  • Oversee the use of TAMs, InPlace and other systems to improve workflow and efficiencies and provide key information to meet strategic objectives.
  • Support a collaborative team effort to assure compliance with accreditation, certification and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and monitor metrics for evaluating the efficacy and efficiency of designated curricula, programs and clinical experiences; recommend and implement revisions as needed.
  • Develop and monitor metrics for evaluating student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Academic Programs, Assistant Deans and Division Chairs in planning course schedules and faculty workload assignments.
  • Serve as an Ex-Officio member on designated faculty committees.
  • Prepare OAP‑related reports and provide OAP‑specific data as needed for other unit reports.
  • Participate in teaching within the College of Nursing and serve as a role model for professional and educational excellence.
  • Define goals, objectives and deliverables for process improvement to ensure efficient operations for the Academic Programs unit; communicate progress, resource allocations, delays, barriers or other difficulties to stakeholders.
  • Utilize TAMS (course assignment software) to ensure accurate teaching assignments and workload reporting.
  • Organize the use of information technology and corresponding databases to streamline the work of the Academic Programs unit.
  • Provide oversight and direction for staff professional positions in collaboration with the CU Nursing Human Resources Team on personnel‑related functions.
  • Provide direct supervision of multiple staff positions, including the Undergraduate Program Manager, the Graduate Program Manager, Instructional Design Specialists, OAP Systems Support Specialist and the Compliance Specialist.
  • Engage in additional activities and responsibilities as delegated by the Associate Dean of Academic Programs.
Work Location

Hybrid – eligible for a hybrid schedule of three days per week on campus and as needed for in‑person meetings. Primary work location is the Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, Colorado; teaching responsibilities as needed on the Legacy Campus, Lone Tree, Colorado.

Compensation

Annual salary range for faculty appointments:
Associate Teaching Professor $115,000–$130,000;
Teaching Professor $130,000–$150,000;
Associate Professor (Tenure Eligible) $120,000–$140,000;
Professor (Tenure Eligible) $140,000–$170,000. All positions are 1.0 FTE. The faculty administrative role is negotiable in terms of workload to support the finalist and the college’s needs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school/college (or direct‑entry master’s degree in nursing).
  • Earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, education or related area.
  • Record of teaching effectiveness, collegial collaboration and commitment to scholarship.
  • Experience in an administrative faculty appointment related to academics.
