Job Summary

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing is seeking exceptional nurses with graduate education who have recent clinical experience and interest in teaching nursing in an academic setting. These adjunct academic faculty positions have direct teaching and student evaluation responsibilities and will provide didactic/clinical instruction for students formally enrolled in nursing education courses at CU College of Nursing. Faculty rank will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Class Coverage:
    Assume direct teaching responsibilities in classroom, online, or hybrid environments across 1,200 students in BS, Masters, DNP, and PhD programs.
  • Learning Experiences:
    Ensure learning experiences are congruent with curriculum, course competencies, and integrate clinical and research knowledge.
  • Evaluation:
    Assess student learning and communicate evaluations with students directly. Final evaluation and grade responsibility.
Work Location

Hybrid – eligible for a hybrid schedule as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate degree from accredited institution with appropriate specialty/discipline content.
  • Evidence of teaching experience.
  • Previously held the rank of Instructor (or higher) at a comparable higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • RN license
  • BS degree in nursing
  • Clinical experience
  • Evidence/Documentation of quality of teaching
  • APRN certification preferred as appropriate

    Anticipated Pay Range
    • Adjunct academic Instructor: $2,942 initial, $1,705 subsequent credit hour.
    • Adjunct academic Sr. Instructor: $3,168 initial, $1,842 subsequent.
    • Adjunct academic Assistant Professor: $3,350 initial, $1,945 subsequent.
    • Adjunct academic Associate Professor: $3,948 initial, $2,194 subsequent.
    • Adjunct academic Professor: $4,900 initial, $2,450 subsequent.

    Additional compensation may include overtime depending on level. University provides generous leave, health plans and retirement contributions.
