Position Summary
The Ameri Corps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the museum, working directly under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. Their primary focus will be to support and deliver high‑impact educational programming to K‑12 students, with an emphasis on equitable access to culturally relevant history education. The member will play a key role in facilitating Hands‑On History programs, field trips, and other student‑focused educational experiences.
As capacity allows, the Ameri Corps member may also assist with community events, adult educational programming, and broader outreach initiatives.
- The Member will serve at the History Colorado Center
. - The Ameri Corps Member will complete a minimum of 900 service hours throughout their term. This commitment requires an average of 10–15 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during school breaks.
- Availability between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday is required.
- The Ameri Corps member will be directly supervised by the Education Coordinator, with additional oversight and support provided by the Program Manager.
- Service term begins September 8, 2026 and ends August 20, 2027
. - Mandatory orientation on September 8 and 9, 2026 at the History Colorado Museum in Denver.
- Interviews planned for the week of August 10–14, 2026.
- Facilitate Hands‑On History out‑of‑school camp programming, school‑year field trips, and other educational activities, delivering culturally relevant content aligned with academic standards.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of educational programming.
- Support curriculum development and manage educational resources to ensure successful delivery of history lessons.
- Required attendance for School Programs Orientation on September 28, 2026.
- School‑year program:
September 30, 2026 – May 21, 2027 (10–15 hours per week). - Availability required for out‑of‑school programming:
- December 28–31, 2026 – 32 hours.
- March 29 – April 2, 2027 – 40 hours.
- Summer camps, June – August 2027 – 40 hours per week, 1 week of training and 8 weeks of camp. (Includes a 1‑week holiday around July 4th.)
- 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Ability to pass criminal history checks.
- Strong interest in history, education, or a related field.
- At least three (3) months of full‑time or equivalent part‑time experience working with school‑age children ages 5‑18 (455 hours).
- Resume and cover letter as part of application.
- Total living allowance up to $18,000 (pre‑tax), distributed biweekly.

- Applications will be accepted from residents and non‑residents of Colorado. The incumbent must live in and complete work for History Colorado within Colorado.
