SUPERVISOR:

Principal or designee.

SUMMARY:

The occupational therapist will assess and provide intervention to ensure student success and promote an exemplary education program fostering achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among the school community: parents, staff, administration and other community members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct and consult services to young children (2-5 years of age) with a wide range of significant special needs.

Assess and develop interventions for all areas of motor development (fine, gross, sensory-motor) support for students who are on an IEP and/or Response to Intervention (RtI) plan.

Support team members in providing data-driven interventions integrated into the classroom routine.

Demonstrate problem-solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents, administrators, teaching assistants and other special education staff.

Ability to support the sensory motor needs of the whole classroom.

Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to special education students of all levels and abilities.

Strong classroom management, communication, organization and planning skills.

Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.

Willing to support and actively participate in a professional learning community.

Demonstrate an ability to provide small group and individual services to all levels of student ability (service cognitive delay, autism, learning disabled and emotional disabled.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. or M.S. in Occupational Therapy

Hold a valid Colorado School Occupational Therapist License

Proficiency in using technology.

Hold an active National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) account and provide NPI and Health First Colorado account information to the Office of Human Resources and the District Medicaid office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in pediatrics or early childhood preferred.
