Special Education Specialist - Visual Impairment
Master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in special education visual impairment or its equivalent, as determined by the department; and completion of an approved program from a regionally accredited institution for special education specialists: visually impaired that includes prescribed field experience requirements.
Any candidates who also hold their orientation and mobility specialist (O&M) certifications would be preferred, but it is not a requirement. Candidates who solely hold their O&M will not be considered. They need an in-person provider; and will not be considering virtual providers. The provider must have their Colorado Department of Education authorization to provide services for students with visual impairments.
