Summary:
Supervise and coordinate a school's color guard activities. Support each participant in achieving a higher level of personal skill, gaining an enhanced appreciate for color guard and sportsmanship, and fostering an increased level of self-esteem through practice.
The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. [Daily, 30%]
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences. Direct color guard performers. [Daily, 30%]
- Obtain and use, if requested, evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs. [Daily, 15%]
- Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all color guard equipment. [Daily, 10%]
- Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in color guard. [Daily, 5%]
- Ensure that program is cost-effective and funds are managed wisely. [Daily, 5%]
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience as a participant and/or advisor in color guard.
- Intermediate communication skills.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
