Job Summary:The Critical Care Director and Clinical Content Contributor for the University of Colorado School of Medicine at Colorado State University (Fort Collins Branch) is responsible for working withSOM personnel to implement, evaluate, and continuously improvecomponents of the elective in which they have scientific expertise,and to collaborate with Medical Science faculty to deliverspecialty-specific content in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:- 20% - Administration:
- Collaborate with the Clinical Care Director at CUSOM where appropriate.
- Ensure adequate orientation including content, scheduling,assessment, grading, organization and course execution is delivered.
- Ensure syllabi, course materials, schedules, and other content are of high quality, current, posted, easily accessible, andreflect the educational objectives and content being delivered.
- Ensure appropriate course opportunities and availability to meetthe needs of students.
- Serve as a resource and communicate in a timely manner (generallywithin 2 business days) with students, administrative staff, and faculty.
- 20% - Curriculum Execution and Program Innovation:
- Provide oversight of the curriculum with a focus on development and implementation of goals objectives, linking stated objectives to educational strategies and learner assessment.
- Ensure all teaching faculty and students are aware and understandcompetencies and learning goals.
- Ensure adherence to shared policies as developed by the curriculum committees and UME leadership.
- Modify existing or develop new curricula or methods of deliverybased on needs, changing LCME requirements, and as charged bycurriculum oversight bodies.
- Submit proposals for new elective courses.
- Align course content to be comparable to its counterpart on other campuses where appropriate. This may require collaboration with faculty across campuses.
- 20% - Curriculum Review, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Accreditation
- Track, monitor, assess, and identify areas for improvement withthe goal of continuous quality improvement or as dictated by the curriculum oversight bodies.
- With the assistance of the OME Office of Evaluation, Assessmentand Research, evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum in achieving learning outcomes.
- Review all course evaluations annually and provide individualizedfeedback to faculty aimed at development of an action plan forchanges and improvement for the following academic year.
- Provide data, descriptive information, and reports to communicatecontent, instructional methods, assessment, and outcomes to support overall UME program and to ensure compliance with LCME standard sand other reporting requirements (e.g., Curriculum Inventory).
- 20% - Student Assessment and Grading for Critical Care
- Set clear expectations for student performance to supportcompetency-based grading
- Develop a fair grading process and provide students with information on how grades are determined.
- Support faculty in their grading and feedback process to ensureall students receive fair, and effective formative and summativeassessments.
- Collaborate with the OME Office of Evaluation, Assessment and Research to update assessment and evaluation tools annually andensure that assessment results provided to students support their learning and on-going development.
- Ensure all grades are submitted in a timely manner
- 10% - Student Support and Remediation
- Ensure early identification of students in academic or personaldifficulty.
- Serve as a resource when students with remediation needs are identified.
- Refer all students with academic or personal difficulty tothe
- leadership team.
- 10% - Supervision
- Interface with personnel supervisors in the evaluation of support staff.
- Ensure work is given to support staff prior to deadlines to allowadequate time for completion while recognizing competingresponsibilities
