Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Anschutz, College of Nursing on the Anschutz Medical Campus, is seeking a full-time Academic Success Manager. The Academic Success Manager is responsible for developing and implementing programs and services to support student success and retention. Working with individual students and student groups, the Academic Success Manager will engage in innovative and holistic approaches to providing students with strategies and resources for academic success, including tutoring services, mentorship programs, and academic success training.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Support and Coaching (60%)

  • Conduct one-on-one and group meetings with students to develop learning and life strategies that promote student success, focusing on developing skills in strategic learning, active studying, test taking, test anxiety management, time management, academic stress management, goal setting, study plans, and other academic success skills, all individually tailored to each student's needs.

  • Support and coach students through life events, obstacles, and challenges that impact academic progression.

  • Manage the suite of Academic Success programs, including Peer Tutoring and Pre-Enrollment Programs for incoming undergraduate nursing students.

  • Support program evaluation and improvement through continuous data collection.

  • Ensure compliance with admission requirements regarding program use.

  • Foster the development of critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and inter-and intra-personal skills to result in improved success in and outside of the classroom.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other university personnel to proactively intervene to support students.

  • Serve as a liaison to the Office of Disability, Access, and Inclusion to ensure students are accessing accommodations appropriately, and to ensure students are simultaneously learning and implementing academic strategies to improve their outcomes.

  • Establish collaborative working relationships with other campus program areas in developing and delivering innovative and comprehensive programs and services.

  • Lead the Spontaneous Writing Sample evaluation assessment.

Supervision and Strategic Planning (40%)
  • Supervise and train the Academic Success Specialist (0.6 FTE) and the Peer Tutors (undergraduate students).

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Academic Success unit.

  • Monitor real-time budget data and the utilization of Academic Success services to make timely adjustments to tutoring availability.

  • Ensure that essential services and resources are appropriately allocated.

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain control over program budget, including expenditures, procurement, timesheets, and reporting. Make recommendations on staffing, equipment, and other program needs

  • Develop and maintain detailed student records in order to create reports to support retention strategies.

  • Monitor/evaluate student data and utilize available research to make informed data-driven decisions.
