Shape the future of students with visual impairments by providing critical support across a school district in the Denver area. This full-time contract role plays a vital part in enhancing accessibility and developmental success for learners from early childhood through high school. Youll serve onsite in a variety of educational environments as the districts designated Teacher for the Visually Impaired, collaborating with staff and families to ensure every student reaches their potential.
What Were Looking For :- Valid Colorado Department of Education certification with the Special Education Specialist Visual Impairment (ages 021) endorsement
- Masters degree or higher in special education visual impairment or an equivalent field from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience administering functional vision assessments and Expanded Core Curriculum evaluations
- Background in drafting and managing IEPs for diverse age groups
- Capacity to provide specialized instruction, teach essential vision-related skills, and adjust environment/materials for optimal access
- Preferred but not required:
Current O&M Certification - Willingness to undergo district background check and fingerprinting
- Strong commitment to fulfilling the school year contract
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct vision assessments and develop detailed, individualized educational plans
- Provide direct instruction and support, including orientation and mobility services, to students from ECE through high school
- Adapt materials, utilize specialized tools, and create accessible classroom environments
- Coordinate closely with educators, administrators, families, and therapists for comprehensive student support
- Maintain compliance with educational standards and district strategic goals
- Ensure timely, accurate documentation as required
