POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Advisor for Concurrent Enrollment plays a critical role in supporting high school students enrolled in community college coursework, with a strategic focus on student retention, successful course completion, and postsecondary matriculation. This position provides proactive academic advising, transition planning, and student success interventions to ensure Concurrent Enrollment students persist through their coursework and successfully matriculate into certificate or degree programs upon high school graduation.

The Advisor collaborates closely with High School Partners, Faculty, Recruitment, and Student Support Services to create seamless pathways from Concurrent Enrollment to full college enrollment. They develop intentional student support services along each student’s pathway to encourage growth and contribute to successful degree/certificate completion isors provide intentional proactive academic advising, career exploration advising, and success coaching for students within the specific pathway and serve as key contributors to the student experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Academic Advising & Student Support
  • Provide comprehensive academic advising to concurrent enrollment students, including course selection, degree and career pathway exploration, and academic planning aligned with transfer and workforce goals through 1-1 appointments or group advising as needed.
  • Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and performance to identify early risk factors and implement timely retention interventions.
  • Support students in navigating college policies, expectations, and resources while fostering college readiness skills.
  • Maintain consistent communication with students and families/support systems to promote engagement and persistence.
  • Help students choose and enter a pathway.
  • Advise new and continuing students regarding completing a credential and/or transferability of degree program.
  • Help students persist by assisting them in navigating their Academic Course Map, provide transfer information, and make campus and community referrals as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of the curricula for CCA degrees, certificates, courses, catalogs, issues relevant to transferring to Colorado four-year institutions, and for career preparation.
  • During non-CE peak periods, support Academic Advising by assisting with Drop-In Advising, Peak Advising, Extended Hours, Open Houses, and other advising initiatives as needed.
Retention & Matriculation Initiatives
  • Design and implement targeted retention strategies for concurrent enrollment students, including early alert outreach, success coaching, and academic recovery planning.
  • Develop structured matriculation plans that guide students from concurrent enrollment into full-time or part-time enrollment after high school graduation.
  • Attend transition activities such as matriculation workshops, application support, orientation sessions, and registration assistance, as needed.
  • Track and analyze retention and matriculation data to inform program improvements and equity-focused interventions.
  • Monitor student academic progress towards a credential and intervene as needed.
Collaboration & Outreach
  • Serve as a liaison between the community college and partner high schools, counselors, administrators, and families.
