We’re hiring a Research Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track) at the University of Colorado Anschutz!
The Bai Lab in the Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is recruiting a Research Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track) to join our growing research program in artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and healthcare
.
Importantly, this position is designed to provide a pathway toward a tenure-track faculty appointment. Candidates who demonstrate strong research productivity, progress toward research independence, and meet departmental criteria will have the opportunity to be considered for transition to a tenure-track position after approximately two years.
We are looking for an ambitious researcher who wants not simply to join existing projects, but to develop an independent academic research career and build their own research program
.
Our research spans a broad range of areas, including:
- Medical imaging AI and deep learning
- Multimodal AI integrating imaging, clinical, and other health data
- Large language models and vision-language models in medicine
- AI across radiology and a broad range of clinical applications
- Prediction, prognosis, and longitudinal disease modeling
- Clinical validation and real-world deployment of AI systems
- Large-scale medical imaging datasets and multi-institutional studies
The successful candidate will have opportunities to lead research projects, develop new AI methodologies and clinical applications, publish high-impact work, mentor trainees, develop grant proposals, and establish an increasingly independent and externally funded research portfolio
.
We welcome candidates with backgrounds in computer science, biomedical engineering, medical imaging, machine learning, data science, or related quantitative fields
. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong technical expertise, a productive publication record, scientific creativity, and a clear vision for their future research.
You do not need to work in a specific disease area. We are interested in researchers who can bring complementary expertise and new research directions to our group.
Our environment provides access to growing clinical imaging datasets, computational resources, multidisciplinary clinical collaborators, and opportunities for multi-institutional research.
International applicants are welcome. For the right candidate, H-1B visa sponsorship is available.
We are especially interested in what you want to build next - and how we can help you develop the research portfolio, funding, collaborations, and independence needed for the next stage of your academic career.
