The EPG Field Service Class B Technician works with limited supervision to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, test, and commission Caterpillar Electric Power Generation equipment at customer locations in a manner that reflects the company's vision of working as "One Professional Team". This position is responsible for supporting customer power generation needs through preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, load bank testing, equipment startups, and electrical/mechanical diagnostics while delivering exceptional customer service.
Pay Rate: $32.00-$52.60 per hour. Pay Rate is based upon experience and education.

- Diagnose and repair Caterpillar diesel and natural gas generator sets.
- Troubleshoot alternators, voltage regulators, circuit breakers, batteries, and control systems.
- Diagnose EMCP and GCCP control panels, communications, and interface signals.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot transfer switches, switch gear, and paralleling systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service activities.
- Complete startups, commissioning checks, load-bank tests, and transfer tests.
- Interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
- Utilize Cat Electronic Technician and approved diagnostic test equipment.
- Apply electrical safety procedures and verify energy isolation before work.
- Respond to outages and emergency service calls to restore equipment operation.
- Document repairs, test results, parts usage, and service recommendations.
- Communicate repair status, additional work requirements, and equipment readiness.
- Maintain service vehicle, tools, testing equipment, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with Service, Parts, Engineering, Product Support, and Sales teams.
- Participate in Caterpillar and dealer technical training programs.
- Perform additional duties consistent with training and qualifications.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience servicing CAT generators or power generation equipment
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting diesel engines, electrical systems, or generator controls
- 3+ years customer service experience
Education and Experience:
- Technical School Certificate or Associate Degree in Diesel Technology, Electrical Technology, Power Generation, or related field
- CAT EPG training certifications
- Experience with ATS systems, switch gear, and paralleling controls
- Experience performing load bank testing and generator commissioning
- Experience with CAT Digital and Remote Monitoring solutions
