Network Engineer

The Ash Group is hiring a Network Engineer for a Direct Hire role at our client (a municipal government providing essential public services like public safety and community development).

This Hybrid position is based in Aurora, CO
, with a salary range of $75,000 - $120,000
. This role is ideal for a well-rounded engineer who enjoys a mix of complex technical design, critical infrastructure security, and direct customer interaction.

• Design, deploy, and manage robust LAN/WAN and Wireless architectures specifically tailored for a water utility’s high-availability needs.
• Act as a liaison between the Client's Networking team and the Operational Technology (SCADA) teams to ensure seamless data flow and security.
• Implement and govern security protocols, including Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS
  , while adhering to NIST and AWWA industry standards.
• Lead project management tasks, including preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and managing Agile Kanban boards for quarterly sprints.
• Coordinate with the Radio Shop to maintain microwave and wireless data infrastructure essential for utility monitoring.
• Develop and test disaster recovery plans to maintain "Mission Critical" operations during emergencies.

• Experience: 3+ years of relevant Network Engineering experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Cisco or Juniper hardware, and protocols including BGP, OSPF, VPN, DNS, and DHCP
  .
• Security & Utility Focus: Familiarity with critical infrastructure and industrial networking protocols (IIoT) is highly preferred.
• Tools: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and monitoring tools like Solar Winds or Wireshark
  .
• Certifications: At least one of the following certifications (CCNA, Network, CCNP, CISSP, JNCIP).
