Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
  • Perform MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses (task series 100–400).
  • Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
  • Coordinate with customer safety representatives applying methods, standards, and techniques to clarify system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel.
  • Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal.
  • Perform System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses.
  • Brief safety considerations at technical reviews and support the safety approval process.
  • Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
  • Prepare internal and customer reports describing various analyses for the System Safety program.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.
  • Interface with other engineering functions:
    Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.
  • Manage System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and customer representatives.
  • Work on Special Access Program(s) as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (advanced degree may substitute additional experience).
  • Experience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top security clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs such as MIL-STD-882.
  • Experience implementing system and software safety in an Agile Development environment.
  • Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration and tackling Human Factors Engineering tasks involving MIL-STD-1472.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, and System Safety Working Groups.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $82,000 – $164,000 USD (good faith estimate).

Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits depend on the business unit and applicable agreement.

This is a U.S.

-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
