Relay Technician
We are seeking a Relay Technician to support substation projects across Colorado. This role focuses on protection and controls testing, relay work, and field support across various project environments.
Responsibilities- Perform protection and controls testing in substations and industrial environments.
- Execute relay testing and verify relay logic.
- Upload and validate relay settings.
- Support commissioning efforts and troubleshoot system issues.
- Work in both greenfield and brownfield substations at various stages of energization.
- 3–5+ years of experience in protection and controls testing.
- Hands‑on field experience testing P&C systems in substations.
- Experience with relay testing and understanding relay logic.
- Experience working in substations (greenfield and brownfield).
- Strong understanding of three‑phase electrical systems.
- Ability to upload and verify relay settings in the field.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with live CT work, RTU knowledge, omicron, doble, test universe, and protection suite.
- Experience with electromechanical relays.
- Experience in relay settings, substation design, or commissioning is a plus.
- An electrical or technical degree is a plus but not required.
This role involves travel across Colorado, with occasional out‑of‑state travel for short durations (up to 2 weeks). You will work in both greenfield and brownfield environments, including active and varying site conditions. The position offers a clear growth path into commissioning engineer and leadership roles, with hands‑on work with substation P&C systems and relay testing. You will gain exposure to a variety of project types and environments, providing the opportunity to build advanced technical skill sets in a high‑demand field.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
