Raytheon’s System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department drives the integration of safety and human factors across all engineering and program execution activities. This role focuses on applying MIL-STD‑882E and related standards to ensure product safety and reliability.
What You Will Do- Develop and implement MIL-STD‑882E compliant system safety programs.
- Perform system safety program tasks and analyses, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and design reviews.
- Coordinate with customer safety representatives and other engineering functions (Systems, Software, Electrical, Hardware) to align safety requirements with design and architecture.
- Gather safety approvals from Safety Review Boards and manage safety working groups.
- Conduct safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses from program startup through production to disposition.
- Prepare internal and customer reports on safety analyses and program status.
- Brief safety considerations at technical reviews as part of the safety approval process.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Engineering, Science, Technology) or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in system safety or software safety engineering.
- Experience with complex systems and evaluating risk according to MIL-STD‑882E.
- Knowledge of DoD system safety programs (MIL-STD‑882, DO‑178, MIL‑STD‑1472).
- Proficiency in presentation skills and preparing safety documentation.
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and proposal development.
- Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration and executing Human Factors Engineering tasks.
- Ability to work on Special Access Programs (SAPs).
- Active, transferrable United States government issued Top Secret clearance required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship required.
- Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
