Job Summary
Confluent Medical Technologies is dedicated to developing high-quality medical devices. The Senior Metrology Technician will join our Fremont, CA team to assist in developing metrology processes and test methods for inspection of medical devices manufactured in an ISO 13485 registered facility and ISO 17025 accredited scope.
Salary Range: $38.25 - $63.75 per hour.
Responsibilities- Work as part of a multifunctional product development team responsible for development, optimization, and validation of medical device production processes.
- Develop and validate optimal measurement processes for variable, attribute, and functional testing.
- Perform metrology on precision medical devices and components using precision metrology tools such as CMM, OMM, and mechanical inspection equipment/gages.
- Program dimensional inspection routines with automated optical inspection tools, e.g., Micro Vu.
- Design, develop, and review metrology fixtures, tools and software.
- Work closely with product development, new product introduction, and manufacturing engineers to support new and existing metrology processes.
- Handle metrology equipment preventive maintenance, calibration, and general laboratory auditing and maintenance.
- Create documentation including work instructions, test method validation reports, inspection plans, and technical memorandums.
- Train PD/NPI/Manufacturing Operators and Technicians on metrology processes and best practices.
- Contribute to multiple projects, work in a matrix organization, and meet timelines while demonstrating ownership and leadership qualities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; certification or associate degree is a plus.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of direct experience and training in metrology or a similar photonics field or quality.
- Formal or on-the-job training on Micro Vu or similar metrology equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read and write technical documentation.
- Intermediate mathematical skills and understanding of basic math and geometry.
- Strong understanding of measurement concepts and ability to interpret engineering drawings per ASME and ISO standards.
- GD&T experience is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills regarding data collection and basic analysis.
- Ability to perform visual inspection of vascular devices and metrology tooling.
- Proficiency in programming optical or coordinate (CMM) metrology systems is preferred.
- Competency in reading and understanding mechanical dimensioning, tolerancing, and engineering specifications.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCZL Z540-1,
-2,
-3, and NCSL best practices.
