Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes for RK Mission Critical's modular power and data center product lines. This role contributes to the design of assembly and integration processes, tooling, and build sequencing to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable production operations.
The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering leadership to support Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) efforts and ensure alignment between engineering documentation and production execution.
Role Responsibilities
- Support collaboration with Design Engineering to identify and address DFM/DFMA considerations during product development.
- Assist in the development, improvement, and documentation of assembly, integration, and test processes for modular electrical and power infrastructure products.
- Review shop drawings and build documentation to ensure alignment with workstation layouts, build sequencing, and production requirements, providing feedback as needed.
- Support the design and implementation of tooling, fixtures, jigs, and material-handling solutions to improve safety and process consistency.
- Assist in developing and maintaining manufacturing BOMs, routings, and workstation sequencing within the ERP system.
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives, including value stream mapping, standard work development, and workflow improvements.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard work, and process records.
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to support improvements in First Pass Yield (FPY), defect reduction, and cycle time.
- Support root cause investigations (5-Why, 8D, etc.) and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Support pilot builds, engineering builds, and process validation activities to ensure production readiness.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline required.
- 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably in modular, prefabricated, or electromechanical assembly environments.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
- Understanding of workstation design, assembly sequencing, and production flow.
- Familiarity with ERP systems for BOM management, routings, and production tracking.
- Experience supporting process development and documentation efforts.
- Good understanding of DFM/DFMA methodologies, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
- Experience reading and aligning shop drawings production processes & requirements.
- Proficiency or familiarity with CAD tools to support process layouts or tooling concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to support accurate, repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering, production, and support teams.
- Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
- Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
- Work in all types of weather.
- Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
- Ability to lift and carry 51 to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or 31 to 45 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 16 to 22 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
