Responsibilities
This position conducts mission/program specific real‑time spacecraft, satellite flight, and ground system operations during readiness, execution, and evaluation phases. The engineer develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, and command and control of on‑orbit satellites. The role provides technical direction for on‑orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions, and recommends alternate operating techniques.
The engineer performs failure analysis via telemetry data, utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks, analyzes and validates software performance, and performs flight‑length orbit adjustments and daily special event studies. Successful completion of a certification program is required.
- Associate’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience, and/or technical training.
- Completed coursework toward a related degree may be considered.
- 2 years Jr College experience.
- Experience working with on‑orbit spacecraft, satellite flight, or ground system operations.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: TOPSIM, MATLAB, JAVA, C++, PERL, ORACLE/SQL, HTML, XML, LINUX, Python, JavaScript, Juniper or Cisco networking systems.
- Astrodynamics and orbital mechanics, including classical orbital (Keplerian) elements.
- Experience with GIS software or geospatial production techniques.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, including the ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI required for the role. This position requires a government security clearance; applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Compensation & BenefitsAnnual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas) and elsewhere is $51,000 – $89,930.
