Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer

Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer to join our team in Aurora, Colorado.

• Collaborate on the design and integration of hardware systems ensuring adherence to changing requirements and specifications.
• Create, review, and update drawings; support equipment moves, rack and stack of equipment; and integrate computer equipment into a shelter for deployment.
• Provide experience or interest in power/cooling or site construction and traveling to support installation and configuration events (a plus).
• Participate in system‑level testing and verification processes, ensuring hardware meets all specified requirements and standards.
• Conduct troubleshooting and modifications on existing hardware designs to enhance performance and reliability.
• Utilize clear technical writing to document design alterations, prepare status reports, and develop design specifications and validation plans.
• Maintain a proactive attitude in meetings with cross‑functional teams, demonstrating initiative and professionalism while engaging with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Occasional travel may be required to support field activities and hardware deployment.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree in a STEM field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. in a STEM field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access.
• Experience with hardware design and integration processes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of requirement changes on hardware design.
• Familiarity with power, RF, and fiber electrical signal principles and applications.

• Experience with complex system architectures and hardware validation procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic components and their applications in communication systems.
• Previous experience in a fast‑paced engineering environment with a focus on field support operations.
• Applied electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub‑assemblies, and components; and quality testing.
• Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
• Experience with agile programs.

Primary Level Salary Range: $ - $. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.
