Job Description
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Electromechanical Engineer to join our team in Aurora, Colorado. The role focuses on computer hardware design, integration, and verification for systems that use power, RF, and fiber optic signals. The Engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, provide technical documentation, support deployment activities, and troubleshoot hardware.
Responsibilities- Collaborate on the design and integration of hardware systems, ensuring adherence to changing requirements and specifications.
- Create and update drawings, support equipment moves, rack and stack of equipment, and integrate compute equipment into shelters for deployment.
- Participate in system‑level testing and verification processes to ensure hardware meets all specified requirements and standards.
- Conduct troubleshooting and modifications on existing hardware designs to enhance performance and reliability.
- Utilize clear technical writing to document design alterations, prepare status reports, and develop design specifications and validation plans.
- Maintain a proactive attitude in meetings with cross‑functional teams, demonstrating initiative and professionalism while engaging with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Material Management and engineering teams to ensure material, equipment, and tooling alignment with higher‑level assemblies.
- Provide occasional travel support for field activities and hardware deployment (CONUS and OCONUS).
- Level 2:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 0+ years of relevant experience. - Level 3:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. - Active TS/SCI clearance required at the time of application.
- Experience with hardware design and integration processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of requirement changes on hardware design.
- Familiarity with power, RF, and fiber optical electrical signal principles and applications.
- Experience with complex system architectures and hardware validation procedures.
- Knowledge of electronic components and their applications in communication systems.
- Previous experience in a fast‑paced engineering environment with a focus on field support operations.
