Job Description
This position requires onsite work in Aurora, CO and an active TS/SCI w/POLY security Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.
Solidus has an exciting opportunity is available for a highly skilled RF Systems/Hardware Engineer to support a complex, high-priority operational satellite communications system. This role is focused on providing comprehensive engineering analysis, operations and maintenance (O&M), baseline management, and system enhancement support. The successful candidate will join a dedicated engineering team responsible for ensuring the continuous operational readiness of critical mission hardware.
This position demands a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic environment, is eager to master specialized system architecture, and can successfully manage high-visibility challenges.
- Troubleshoot, document, and resolve complex system outages and operational issues to minimize downtime and ensure seamless system recovery.
- Collect critical diagnostic data and accurately document system discrepancies using formal logging and tracking tools.
- Develop reliable technical workarounds and implement structural changes to restore and maintain optimal system performance.
- Store, retrieve, and manipulate specialized operational data to conduct thorough capabilities and requirements analyses.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, to isolate hardware faults and verify system specifications.
- Monitor equipment functions and perform necessary hardware or configuration modifications to maintain strict compliance with system specifications.
- Support the generation of Concepts of Operations (CONOPs) and provide strategic recommendations for evolving system architecture.

Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- 8 years of relevant engineering experience
- Proven experience supporting engineering and sustainment activities specifically for satellite communications ground stations
- Direct experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing complex technical requirement
- Strong background in RF systems engineering, including developing and maintaining schematics, system block diagrams, analyses, design review packages, and a system Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Must be able to support occasional travel, both CONUS and OCONUS
- Must be able to support emergency repair trips with little or no advanced notice
- Must be able to provide occasional after-hour call-in support
- Must be able to work at heights and successfully complete safety requirements for antenna/tower training.

Experience:
- Ability to conduct trade‑off studies and influence performance and cost decisions for proposed engineering changes
- Experience contributing effectively within multi‑disciplined design teams and delivering actionable technical insights
- Proactive capability to leverage past experiences to recommend new operational concepts, architectural enhancements, and efficiency improvements
- Proficient, hands‑on usage of Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, and Oscilloscopes
- Practical experience interfacing with hardware vendors for the tracking, repair, and timely return of critical operational components
- Experience upgrading and maintaining hardware environments supported by both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Highly articulate written and verbal communication skills, including the technical ability to identify and document RF capability enhancements through white papers and formal technical submittals
