Job Summary

This leadership position is responsible for the College of Nursing’s strategic financial direction. The Associate Dean of Finance and Business Services acts as the senior advisor to the Dean on financial matters and represents the Dean on campus and University matters. This position ensures that the budgetary and fiscal operations of the school are conducted effectively, efficiently, and responsibly in accordance with University rules and regulations, and plans and allocates financial resources to achieve the College’s education, research, and clinical objectives.

This position plans, directs, and assesses the financial operations of the College.

This individual is also responsible for academic program evaluation and other fiscal analyses on a variety of projects, and the development of short and long-range financial plans and projections for the School. The Associate Dean must be attentive to the needs of college constituencies, faculty, staff, and students, and must be committed to shared governance, teamwork, and creative leadership. The leadership is characterized by sound judgment, flexibility, creativity, resourcefulness, and excellent communication skills.

  • Serve as the senior fiscal leader of the CU College of Nursing.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the Dean on financial matters.
  • Serve as a member of campus-wide financial committees to provide insight and advice on campus-wide matters while representing the College of Nursing.
  • Investigate and identify internal and external budgeting and financial information needs.
  • Approve all high-level documents and reports relating to fiscal and budget information for the college.
  • Ensure consistent oversight, analysis, and forecasting of all fiscal and budgetary aspects within the college’s clinical, research, and education enterprise.
  • Formulate financial plans for the college’s programs and projects, including revenue and expenditure projections and cash flow requirements.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights and visual reports for leadership and non-financial constituents.
  • Serve as liaison between the College/Dean and the campus, University, and external constituencies regarding financial operations.
  • Oversee and establish the objectives, scope of service, and performance benchmarks for the Finance and Budget unit.
  • Ensure the college is in compliance with all relevant campus, University, and state fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and creative approaches to senior administrative team members for effective utilization of financial resources to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Oversee annual budget development and long-term financial planning, including analysis of historical data and forecasting future performance, aligned with the college’s mission and policies.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement organizational policies relevant to financial management and operations.
  • Strategically manage and evaluate the College’s financial resources, ensuring funds are stewarded and deployed for maximum benefit; explore new revenue avenues.
  • Adopt a proactive, future-based approach to financial planning to position the College to meet opportunities and challenges.
  • Serve as a member of the Dean’s Executive Council (leadership team). Provide advice and counsel to the college’s faculty leadership, directors, and assistant/associate deans regarding all financial matters.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Ten (10) years of financial management experience, including oversight of budgeting, grant/contract administration, reporting/analysis, procurement, and/or similar functions.
  • Three (3) years in a senior leadership role with strategic financial oversight and collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Four (4) years of prior supervisory experience of professional positions.
