Auditor II
Division of Gaming:
Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.
What We Do:
Sports Betting/Fantasy Sports unit ensures honesty and integrity in the sports betting and fantasy sports industry, through equal parts of education, compliance, and enforcement.
The work unit ensures the physical and logistical security of sports wagering on‑line and in off‑site Sports Betting areas.
A Typical Day of Auditor II:
This role will develop and execute formal audit plans for sports betting operations, working collaboratively within a team to ensure strict adherence to industry rules and regulations. By conducting thorough financial and operational audits, the Auditor II will evaluate the integrity of betting activities while providing critical technical support and guidance to fellow audit staff throughout the audit engagement.
Auditing Support:
The Auditor II must have the ability to navigate and deconstruct complex datasets to ensure operational integrity. This position will be tasked with transforming fragmented or "jumbled" financial information into clear, structured narratives, applying a keen analytical eye to identify underlying irregularities, discrepancies, or patterns of non‑compliance. Beyond technical data reconstruction, this position will establish formal audit plans for sports betting operations and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to evaluate adherence to strict regulatory frameworks.
By conducting rigorous financial and operational audits, this position will play a pivotal role in maintaining the transparency of betting activities while providing essential guidance and support to fellow audit staff.
Tax Filing and Statistical Reporting:
The Auditor II will be responsible for managing the financial integrity of sports betting operations by performing rigorous audits of tax filings. By comparing these filings against monthly statistical reports, the Auditor II will ensure that all tax collections are precise and compliant. This position will also design draft reports, charts, and graphs to visualize and identify emerging industry trends, using these insights to reconcile and validate data for any reporting discrepancies.
Furthermore, this position will serve as a key communicator, delivering necessary tax adjustments to leadership based on audit findings to ensure accurate processing and operational transparency.
Auditing Operations:
Based on evidence gathered through interviews, investigations, and detailed examinations, this position will formulate expert conclusions and develop preliminary audit findings for review. The Auditor II will be responsible for writing formal audit and management reports, presenting findings directly to licensees, and recommending disciplinary actions when noncompliance is identified. In collaboration with Sports Betting leadership, this position will draft and present administrative action documents to licensees, subsequently monitoring their implementation of corrective action plans and conducting follow‑up reviews to ensure full resolution of all issues.
This position is required to perform onsite audits as requested by the Division, as well as attend in person meetings with the Sports Betting team at 1707 Cole Blvd, Suite 300, Golden CO 80401. These onsite audits and in person meetings are required, at minimum, twice a month each; the frequency may increase based on the needs of the Division of Gaming.
