The Adult and Child Center for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Sciences (ACCORDS) is a program of the University of Colorado Denver, School of Medicine conducting comparative effectiveness, health outcomes, health services, and primary care research.

Job Title

Post‑Award Grant Coordinator (open rank)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent, responsive customer service to Principal Investigators and program managers.
  • Manage a portfolio of awarded grants/projects and subcontracts, ensuring compliance for all expenses, reporting, and PI support needs.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Grants and Contracts to establish projects in the financial system, schedule invoicing, and manage re‑budgeting.
  • Execute new project account activities upon award, notifying payroll liaisons and other relevant parties.
  • Process expenditure transactions (p‑card, travel, invoices, purchase orders, payroll transfers, allocations) and monitor allowability under Uniform Guidance.
  • Assist with Statements of Work, vendor setup, agreements, MOUs, non‑employee agreements, and data use agreements.
  • Prepare and submit journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare budget variance reports and review monthly with Grants Team Manager and PI/Project Manager.
  • Resolve accounts in deficit in coordination with OGC, PI/Project Manager, and DFA.
  • Manage and submit requests for Master Service Agreements with Children’s Hospital Colorado and UC Health.
  • Process subcontracts with OGC subcontracts team and enter associated standing purchase orders.
  • Facilitate the requesting, executing, tracking, verifying services and reconciling subcontracts with Grants and Contracts Manager and PIs.
  • Meet regularly with OGC post‑award specialist and PIs to address issues and communicate status of grants and contracts.
  • Execute post‑award accounting duties including projections, journal entries, and payroll transfers.
  • Provide expense documentation to OGC invoicing team as needed.
  • Manage close‑out of completed projects.
  • Help monitor post‑award email boxes.
  • Assist PIs with internally funded projects and awards.
Other Duties (10%)
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive ACCORDS grants database for all grants and contracts submitted.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and new CU and funding agency policies.
  • Respond to requests for information, biosketches, support documents, and proposed subcontracts.
  • Provide direction to department faculty and research staff regarding grant and contract policies and procedures, including presentations and training.
  • Attend local and national conferences and trainings related to sponsored research programs.
  • Participate on committees related to process improvement, strategic planning, and organizational development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Location

Hybrid – eligible for a schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in‑person meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Intermediate Professional – Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field; one year finance/accounting experience with budgets.
  • Senior Professional – Bachelor’s degree in the same fields; two years of experience in sponsored projects post‑award administration.
  • Principal Professional – Bachelor’s degree in the same fields; three to five years of experience in sponsored projects post‑award administration; technical/military experience may substitute for a degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies from multiple levels of authority.
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or public administration.
  • Experience managing grants and contracts at a higher education institution.
  • Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator credential.
