Salary
:
Salary to be commensurate with experience. Hiring range: $58,487.00 – $73,108.00 annually.

Essential Dates

Overview Of Job

The Community Engagement Coordinator performs professional community liaison work to build long-lasting relationships between the community and the City to cultivate trust and encourage vibrant civic participation. This role serves as a bridge between the City, residents, developers, and the community by partnering on engagement projects and addressing topics affecting residents. The role develops and administers neighborhood engagement programs to provide resources and capacity-building opportunities to neighborhood groups.

This position is part of the Community Engagement Division and collaborates with all divisions in the Housing and Community Services Department.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans, develops, and administers neighborhood engagement programs that improve quality of life and liaison services to respond to neighborhood issues and/or concerns
  • Provides neutral facilitation to communities on various topics as requested by residents and/or city leadership
  • Routinely engages with the community to identify future neighborhood program needs
  • Attends community, ward, and town hall meetings on behalf of the City to support resident decision-making, listen to concerns, and support increased resident engagement
  • Assists with the formation of newly established community groups, encourages neighborhood development, and creates capacity-building opportunities to support sustainable community engagement
  • Creates and manages a database of community contacts through the neighborhood registration process and provides relevant updates through neighborhood newsletters
  • Collaborates across the city organization and with community partners on behalf of the Housing and Community Services Department
  • Plans, coordinates, develops, and implements grant projects or civic engagement academies
  • Prepares and presents oral and written reports and recommendations to community groups; boards and commissions; city leadership; and staff
  • Provides technical support to officials and management
  • Responds to public inquiries on neighborhood-related issues
  • Educates and provides guidance to neighborhood leaders on city processes and regulations
  • Collaborates with city team members and partners to design and implement community outreach plans
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications & Working Conditions

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in planning, public administration, community development, or a related field
Experience
  • At least three (3) years’ progressively responsible community engagement experience
Licenses And Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license
Knowledge
  • The principles and practices of community outreach, program development, public administration, and local government structure and services
  • Best practices related to community engagement through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Personal computer with related software including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications
