The City of Aurora is accepting applications for unpaid intern positions for the Fall in various Departments throughout the City. Departments may include but are not limited to:
- Community Services Department:
- Community Engagement
- Innovation & Strategy
- Public Art
- Youth Services
- Engineering
- Information Technology:
- GIS
- Mayor’s Office
- Sustainability, Development, & Business Opportunity
- Emergency Management Agency
- College students seeking real-world experience in local government
- Problem-solvers with a passion for civic engagement
- Organized and proactive individuals excited to contribute to city initiatives
- Work alongside city officials and professionals in various departments
- Help shape local policies, programs, and community events
- Gain insight into public service and administration
- Build meaningful connections with leaders and mentors
- Eligible for academic credit
- Valuable training and development offerings
- Flexible schedules to accommodate student availability
- An engaging and collaborative work environment
- Must be enrolled in an Associates, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree program or have graduated within the previous six months.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus, but is not required. The ability to communicate effectively with members of our diverse community is considered an asset, particularly for internships that involve public engagement. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply regardless of bilingual proficiency.
Interview Process:Initial candidate screenings will take place during the last week of July. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in interviews during the first week of August. Interviews will primarily be held in person; however, Zoom or Microsoft Teams interviews may be available as an alternative.
Internship Term:Fall internships are anticipated to begin in late August or early September and may continue through December.
Schedule:Workdays and schedules will vary based on departmental needs, special events, and project timelines. Interns can expect to work
10–40 hours per weekfor a period of10–15 weeks.
This is an unpaid internship.
