This vacancy is for the Buena Vista Correctional Complex.

The Correctional Support Trades Supervisor I (CSTS I) is a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor at a Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) prison facility, located in Buna Vista, CO. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: ensuring the safety and security of the general public, staff and inmates; training and overseeing an inmate work crew in grounds maintenance operations and ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant completion of assigned tasks.

This position promotes the CDOC Mission and Vision with integrity and commitment.

Position ensures the safe, efficient, compliant, and cost effective completion of grounds maintenance for facility complex.

Position maintains safety and security of facility and work sites; through clear and accurate verbal communication, trains and guides staff and inmates in the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment, and chemicals; enforces security procedures by conducting regular work site searches, strip searches and inmate shakedowns; monitors workplace environment and inmate behavior, paying close attention to changes, inappropriate activity or potential problems;

initiates verbal reprimands when required and, if necessary, physically controls inmates through proper application of restraints or "use of force" techniques; monitors, supervises and escorts inmates according to facility policy; conducts shakedowns of work sites; responds to emergency situations such as fights, fires, and escapes according to agency policy. Through conscientious observation, clear communications and adherence to agency Administrative Regulations, facility Implementation Adjustments and the Code of Penal Discipline, position promotes a safe and secure environment.

Position may be required to work additional hours or shifts in order to maintain security or operational viability.

Position provides supervision of assigned inmate workers; promotes a high level of performance by setting the work standard according to agency mission, vision and values. Trains and instructs assigned inmates in the inspection, repair and maintenance of the grounds throughout the facility…
