Our clinical RDs are highly integrated within the multidisciplinary team on the inpatient units and outpatient clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado. The Clinical Dietitian Professional is an experienced team member who provides comprehensive, safe, and ethical medical nutrition therapy to patients, families, and other clients in inpatient or outpatient settings.

Shift Details:
Variable day shift schedules. Inpatient and outpatient coverage across various service lines + holiday/weekend rotation.

Essential Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Assesses, plans, and delivers accurate medical nutrition therapy using established standards and evidence.
  • Incorporates principles of culture-competence and family-centered care.
  • Trains and observes RDs, interns, and students in their clinical practice. Provides feedback to enhance understanding and compliance.
  • Pursues professional growth and skill development.
  • Actively contributes to rounds, care conferences, and care coordination. Collaborates and promotes teamwork to achieve positive patient and client outcomes across the organization and/or within the department.
  • Proactively connects with Clinical Nutrition team members and other disciplines in the organization to identify Clinical Nutrition-related issues, potential solutions, and opportunities for quality and process improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with established regulatory standards and healthcare regulatory requirements by identifying and following policies and procedures for the nutritional care provided.
  • Accurately documents patient care and tracks time/activities for use with benchmarking, billing, and/or productivity in accordance with department standards.
  • Participates in advocacy, policy and procedure review, quality improvement and/or research.
  • Collaborates as a member of committees, task forces, and/or work groups.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of committees, task forces, and work groups, and is involved in projects that support the organization's mission.
  • Financial Responsibility:
    Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree required in nutrition or related field.
EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years clinical nutrition required. Clinical nutrition experience in the areas of pediatric and infant nutrition required.
LICENSURES - Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) adhering to the Commission of Dietetic Registration guidelines. CNSC, CSP, or CSPCC certification preferred

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $28.32 to $42.48.

*** The stated range represents the full pay scale; however expected starting pay for this position is above the posted minimum of the range and will likely fall between $32.50 - $39/hour. Additionally, PRN roles qualify for a differential in lieu of benefits.
