The MIBH currently seeks an energetic, junior full-time Physical Therapist who is eager to advance their evaluation and treatment therapy skills to provide cutting-edge care for MIBH patients with persistent post-concussive symptoms as a result of military service and elite athletic participation, with a primary focus on high-level physical performance, visual-vestibular integration conditioning and related cervicogenic therapies.

• Provide clinical care in accordance with current established best practices and evidence-informed physical therapy directly related to change in physical function for mild/moderate traumatic brain injury
• Interface effectively with all involved clinical departments, including complimentary/alternative health care, Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, community services, and outside referrals where appropriate
• Establish a customized plan of care that addresses problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities, desires, goals and resources
• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about deficits. Plan and/or assist with discharge from therapy services and treatment setting with recommendations for home community services
• Engage in research related to diagnosis, intervention strategies and outcome measures used to provide evidence-based care for those recovering from TBI/concussion
• Participate and contribute to MIBH committees developing material and programs (e.g., Pain 101, Family Programming)
• Receive ongoing mentoring from MIBH clinicians

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a clinical care and research institute for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), physiological conditions, and behavioral health conditions. The primary focus is to care for former military personnel and those with other than honorable or dishonorable discharge statuses due to TBI or behavioral health conditions. The MIBH also serves civilian adults with mild to moderate TBI and ongoing neurological, cognitive, physical, and behavioral conditions.

The institute provides interdisciplinary care and an Intensive Outpatient Program integrating conventional and complementary treatment modalities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1 year direct experience with vestibular physical therapy
• 2 years direct experience with traumatic brain injury assessment and intervention
• 1 year sports medicine, exercise physiology and/or human physical performance assessment and training experience
• Currently licensed with Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies to practice Physical Therapy or ability to obtain licensure
• Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree
• 3-4 years of directly relevant experience including background in neurologic rehabilitation and/or vestibular rehabilitation related to concussive injuries
• Experience treating TBI on an interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary team
• Experience working with active duty service members or military veterans and/or elite level athletes
• Experience with electronic medical record-based documentation
