Assistant Program Director
- Global Health

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus – Department of Radiology

Open Rank:
Assistant, Associate, or Professor. Position # - Requisition #37364. This role combines leadership of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program with the Global Health Program, aiming to advance global health radiology education and capacity building.

Work Location: Onsite in Aurora, CO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees and guides the training and mentorship of all residents within the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program along with the Global Health Program.
  • Participate in ACGME accreditation activities by contributing to the annual program evaluation, serving on the Program Evaluation Committee and Clinical Competency Committee, and advising and mentoring residents.
  • Directs and manages all aspects of the Global Health Pathway recruitment process to select residents during initial years.
  • Collaborates with the resident leadership team (including Chief Residents) to monitor wellbeing and integrate educational programs to promote physician wellness.
  • Maintains open communication with the Vice Chair of Education for program changes, recommendations, and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to the radiology literature to promote the field of global health radiology in service of global health equity.
  • Adhere to the tenets of responsible global health practice, focusing on sustainable capacity-building rather than dependency.
  • With the Vice Chair of Education, responsible for the Global Health Pathway budget.
  • Attends national meetings to advance programmatic innovations, career development, evaluation, and achievement of clinical competencies; participates in efforts to improve residency training nationally.
  • Expected to travel to Kathmandu, Nepal each year to maintain and build relationships with hospital partners.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • MD, DO (or foreign equivalent).
    • Board-certified in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (or foreign equivalent).
    • Eligible for medical licensure in Colorado.
    • Qualify for a full-time appointment to CU Department of Radiology faculty at rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.
    • At least one year as a faculty member with an academic appointment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Three years of administrative and leadership experience in graduate medical education at the section, departmental, or institutional level.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
    • Outstanding customer service skills.
    • Demonstrate commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
    Ranks and Common Criteria

    Associate Professor and Professor sections repeat standard qualifications: MD/DO (or foreign equivalent); board certification;
    Colorado medical licensure; full-time faculty appointment; minimum one year in academic appointment; and three years of leadership experience is preferred. Knowledge, skills, and abilities are consistent across ranks.
