Overview
Histotechnologist (Open Rank Healthcare Professional – Entry to Senior) – University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Department of Pathology. Full‑time, 1.0 FTE. On‑site location:
Aurora, CO.
- Gross dissection and tissue processing of human and animal biospecimens for clinical and translational research.
- Paraffin microtomy and H&E staining of human and animal samples.
- Special histology stains and automated/manual immunohistochemistry.
- Development and optimization of antibody assays.
- Coordination with pathologists, clinicians, researchers, and laboratory personnel to support new and ongoing research projects.
- General laboratory organization, ordering, and inventory management.
- Maintenance of laboratory databases and regulatory compliance.
- Entry Professional: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Intermediate Professional: Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of professional experience in a research or clinical laboratory with histology techniques.
- Senior Professional: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of professional experience in a research or clinical laboratory with histology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in research or clinical laboratory and proficiency with histology and immunohistochemistry techniques.
- Experience with human subject research and handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Experience handling animal specimens.
- HTL(ASCP) certification or interest in obtaining certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with employees at all institutional levels.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

- Intermediate: $65,536 to $76,677
- Senior: $70,849 to $82,894
