Colorado Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC) at Fitzsimons is a 180‑bed skilled nursing facility serving Colorado’s veterans. The facility offers long‑term care, short‑term rehabilitation, and a secure memory care neighborhood, located on the medical campus with UC Hospital and Aurora VA Medical Center. Position SummaryProvide basic hands‑on patient/resident care in a safe, clean, infection‑controlled environment. Duties include bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting and feeding programs, transporting, performing basic assessments (vital signs, blood pressures, weights, etc.), and charting/documenting all of the above. The role is fully operational and responsible for performing the full range of client aide tasks and problem‑solving.
Job Duties- Under nursing staff direction, provide direct resident care: bathing, dressing, undressing, assisting in and out of bed, personal hygiene, feeding, toileting, range of motion, transporting, and social interaction to meet residents’ basic needs. Explain patient care before, during, and after contacts; answer call lights; assess basic resident care needs; and update noted resident changes.
- Perform basic assessments: vital signs, blood pressure, weight, intake and output, and basic skin assessments.
- Implement infection control, universal precautions, and waste disposal. Clean linen room and equipment, stock supplies, and complete supply forms.
- Use safety/positioning devices such as side rails, transfer belts, and proper equipment; attend ongoing staff education programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
- Current, valid certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies substitutes for a high school diploma or GED.
- Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- Must have a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
- Experience in a long‑term care/assisted living environment.
- Experience transporting/driving residents.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full background check (CBI & FBI fingerprint check, Colorado Court Database, Medicare Fraud Database, TRAILS Database).
- Direct care to vulnerable adults requiring a CAPS check.
- Must possess a valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License or a non‑restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border (out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of employment start).
- Must complete and pass a TB test and receive any other required vaccinations.
- Must be willing to obtain vaccinations and to test for Tuberculosis (TB).
- May require on‑call status and travel/transport residents in state vehicles.
