Job Summary:

This psychologist (Ph.D. or PsyD) will be faculty in the Division of Hematology. They will serve the Division of Hematology and the Blood Disorders and Cellular Therapies Center's clinical needs on the Anschutz Medical Campus. This population includes those with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma and those undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant or treatment with immune effector cell therapy (IEC) such as those using Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) among other IEC's to treat cancer and other conditions including future use cases involving these emerging technologies.

This is a clinical position and is highly integrated with the medical team. The psychologist will provide assessment including pre-transplant evaluation, health and behavior interventions, and psychotherapy to individuals and families across both the inpatient and outpatient environment. This psychologist will join a dedicated psychosocial team comprised of psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and spiritual care providers and will spend a portion of their time coordinating with the medical and psychosocial teams to assure the needs of patients and families are met and that team members are supported.

The expectation is that this is a predominately clinical position. There will be opportunities for teaching, scholarship, and research as part of the assistant professor role; however, this position includes no protected time for non-clinical activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide behavioral health and psychotherapy services for inpatients, their families/caregivers at University of Colorado Hospital with hematologic concerns. Provide services to outpatients, their families/caregivers in the Hematology, Hematologic Malignancies, and Cellular Therapy clinics and infusion center, and patients off site though virtual visits. Clinical approaches including but not limited to psychotherapy and health for concerns such as adjustment to illness, existential/end-of-life issues, and management of psychiatric illness, in addition to providing trauma-informed approaches, safety evaluations, comprehensive assessments, pre-procedure evaluations and capacity evaluations for medical decision making Assist with unit/patient/staff relational dynamics and provide recommendations to help in cases involving complex patient interactions Develop educational programming and present at Division of Hematology Grand Rounds Participate in quality review activities and process improvement This description is a summary only and is describing the general level of work being performed, it is not intended to be all-inclusive.
