Job Summary:

The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Clinical Sciences Professional to assist with both industry and investigator-initiated clinical research protocols. The Clinical Science Professional will work closely with and provide support for Principal Investigators, research teams and departmental leadership. The position will be based at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Intermediate - Principal Clinical Science Professionals perform clinical research related functions including patient-oriented research or research conducted with human subjects.

Patient-oriented research includes mechanisms of human disease, therapeutic interventions, clinical trials, or development of new technologies. Clinical Science Professionals will also assist with epidemiologic and behavioral studies, pharmaceutical clinical trials, and/or outcomes research and health services research. This position will work within a department of ophthalmology clinical research team, providing broad research support to faculty on their research projects. Duties will include, but not limited to, recruitment of study subjects, coordinating and conducting of research patient visits, contacting patients for retrospective data collection, database management and input.

The research studies will primarily be focused on pharmaceutical clinical trials as well as bio banking and broad data management studies, including investigator-initiated studies.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist and aid PI with work pertaining to grant submission and data deadlines Work with PI on research abstract submission, while also working individually on our research and projects. Interact with PI and other PIs in the ophthalmology department about new research opportunities. Communicate expectations with junior team members and be a resource for them. Analyzing data for multiple research studies and presenting analyses to PIs Participate in information gathering for grant applications and submissions Provide leadership and mentorship to division's research coordinators, temporary employees, and student workers.

Research Advocacy Serve as a primary or back-up coordinator for assigned studies while maintaining a flexible, cross-trained role that allows for support across multiple studies and research programs Independently perform study-related procedures, and ophthalmic assessments such as refraction, visual acuity, tonometry, pachymetry, perimetry, imaging as well as ECG, vitals, etc. Coordinate research collaboration between the IRB, University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz, University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital of Colorado, multidisciplinary clinical teams and community providers.

Assist in developing and implementing strategies to enhance participant recruitment and enrollment. Independently master study materials, including but not limited to protocols, informed consent forms, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies Independently perform study-related processes, procedures, and assessments as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
