Job Summary

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, is hiring a PRN MFM sonographer (0.2 FTE). This role will support the freestanding MFM clinic in Downtown Denver, Littleton, Parker, and Fort Collins. The position reports directly to the MFM Practice Manager and indirectly to the Medical Directors and the Division Administrative Director.

Scheduling is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5 pm with no on‑call obligation. Each clinic has two sonographers on site each day, each covering one room with an average of 8 patient scans per day. Clincs use GE Voluson 22 or GE Voluson E10 with ViewPoint reporting software integrated with EPIC.

CU MFM follows AIUM guidelines and each clinic is an AIUM‑accredited ultrasound practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasonographic procedures with independent judgment under the direction of a qualified physician or advanced practice provider.
  • Review patient history and physician orders to perform prescribed studies.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate; collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patients/families and provide appropriate education.
  • Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
Work Location

Onsite – the role is expected to work onsite and will cover clinics in the Denver Metro area and Fort Collins based on coverage needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • 2–3 years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient MFM setting.
  • Combination of education and related experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of outpatient MFM ultrasound technician experience.
  • Fetal echo certification.
  • Experience with Epic, Kronos, and Health Stream.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
Conditions of Employment
  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
  • Registered as a Technologist (RT) and certified in Sonography(S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); state licensure if required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Must be able to work in‑person and travel/cover alternate locations as assigned.
  • Maintains all required licensure and certifications for the position.
  • Maintains all required continuing education requirements.
