Lab Assistant Heart Rockies Regional Medical Center

This position is Full Time working at our Buena Vista Health Center, in Buena Vista, CO

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Lab Assistant I to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for ordering laboratory tests, collecting and processing patient specimens, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate handling of all laboratory samples. The ideal candidate is skilled in phlebotomy, organized, and committed to providing excellent patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

• Explain the importance of lab tests to patients and guide them through preparation.
• Collect a wide variety of specimens (blood, urine, swabs, saliva, etc.) following prescribed guidelines.
• Accurately label specimens and notify the testing team of special handling requirements.

• Prepare specimens for transport, ensuring proper preservation and labeling.

• Ensure medical necessityfortest requestsutilizingcurrentlyavailable information.
  
  Informpatientsof limited coverage.
• Clarifywrittenorders withorderingphysicianoragencythroughappropriatechannels.

Accurately enter patient demographic, billing information and test order in laboratorycomputersystem. Obtain patient consent as applicable.
