Position Summary

The Benefits Coordinator position assists employees with leave of absence and Workers Compensation inquires. Effectively coordinates all cases/claims and ensures compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and all related employment laws. As well as assisting with the administration enrollment of company benefit programs, interact with employees at all levels of the organization and provide exemplary customer service.

Qualifications
  • An Associate’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior work in human resources, with benefits experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in various HRIS and navigating carrier enrollment sites.
  • Detail-oriented, with good judgment and prioritization skills.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Articulate and professional in all verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Experience interacting across different departments, job classifications and geographies a plus.
Essential Functions/Areas of Accountability
  • Serves as primary resource for all and leave of absence related questions of employees and management.
  • Administers leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.).
  • Ensures that the workers’ compensation program is managed in accordance with applicable OSHA and workers’ compensation laws.
  • Independently approves and/or denies leave cases based on relevant medical information.
  • Coordinates and organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed.
  • Ensures that all reportable workers’ compensation claims are submitted to the company’s vendor within 48 business hours from the date of the incident.
  • Works closely with associates to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review.
  • Maintains appropriate contact with all associates on leave and coordinates all aspects of return to work for associates on leave.
  • Administration of STD/LTD programs.
  • Ensures that STD claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical leave cases.
  • Assists in the administration and enrollment of various benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, disability and 401(k).
  • Assists with liaising with insurance and savings providers on behalf of employees and the company.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices and resolve discrepancies with carriers.
  • Assists in the administration of COBRA.
  • Assists in conducting benefits orientation.
  • Assists in Open Enrollment process.
  • Assists with creating communications regarding benefits plan changes, issues and or general notifications.
  • Participates in special projects.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

The typical base pay range for this role is USD $56,160 - $76,960 per year. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience, skills and other market-based factors.
