Summary
Lead Data Platform Architect responsible for designing and building the data infrastructure to support business decision-making. This hands‑on role combines architecture and execution, building a scalable data platform that transforms fragmented operational data into clear, trusted insights across 30+ operating companies.
Primary Responsibilities- Define decision‑driven data and integration strategy, and partner with senior leaders to create an outcome‑based roadmap.
- Design and implement a minimum‑viable data platform, including ingestion, modeling, transformation, and orchestration pipelines (ELT/ETL); evolve to a data lake or warehouse as needed.
- Establish clear definitions for core metrics and datasets, and implement governance, data quality standards, and schema discipline.
- Design and deliver pragmatic API and integration frameworks (REST, Graph
QL, webhooks, event‑driven patterns); manage API lifecycle including documentation, versioning, security, and performance. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (IT, Finance, Sales, Product, etc.) to translate operational needs into usable data and provide architectural guidance during M&A, migrations, and new platform rollouts.
- Ensure integrations and data flows meet security, compliance, and risk standards; implement monitoring, logging, alerting, CI/CD, version control, and automated testing.
- 7–10+ years in data engineering, system integration, or enterprise architecture.
- Hands‑on experience designing and building data platforms that support analytics and decision‑making, including ELT/ETL, SQL, data modeling, and governance.
- Experience with Snowflake, Azure SQL, Databricks, or similar platforms.
- Hands‑on experience designing and integrating APIs and distributed systems.
- Strong cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Ability to balance technical rigor with business pragmatism and communicate trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience in an MSP, technology services, or multi‑business‑unit environment.
- Familiarity with integration platforms such as Mule Soft, Boomi, Zapier, Workato, or similar.
- Knowledge of data security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Experience supporting analytics, BI, or machine‑learning pipelines.
- Agile/Scrum leadership experience.
- Comfort operating in low‑maturity environments and building clarity from ambiguity.
- Leadership can answer core performance and operational questions without manual data assembly.
- Metrics are trusted, clearly defined, and consistently used across operating companies.
- Architecture complexity matches real business need – no overbuild.
- Platform adoption precedes expansion.
- Data reliability improves decision speed and confidence.
- Foundation supports growth without becoming brittle or opaque.
Salary: $190,000 and up, dependent on experience.
