Lead Financial Modeling & BI Analyst – University of Colorado Anschutz

Department:

Job Summary

Lead financial modeling and BI analyst to develop, maintain, and improve Anaplan models and data analytics solutions for campus financial planning and operations. Act as campus-wide subject‑matter expert and support strategic decision making through data quality, modeling, and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Develop processes and workflows to ensure data and performance quality prior to publishing Anaplan models.
  • Conceive and build innovative Anaplan business models that integrate multiple data sources for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Maintain current portfolio of Anaplan models:
    Campus All Funds Budgeting, Salary Setting, Mid‑Year Salary Setting, Tuition Revenue, and Administration models.
  • Serve as point person for the School of Medicine FTE Alignment model implementation in partnership with Tru Consulting.
  • Translate existing solutions, spreadsheets, and business problems into sophisticated Anaplan multi‑dimensional models.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues in Anaplan models.
  • Stay current with Anaplan updates and enhancements, incorporating new features into existing models as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot ETL processes, data flow, and dependencies to validate data quality.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries on Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Snowflake across large relational joins and analytical functions.
  • Present quantitative and qualitative data to senior leadership to influence operations, processes, and programs.
  • Analyze requirements and implement development tasks using web technologies.
  • Collaborate with campus units to develop sustainable systems, mechanisms, and procedures for tracking institutional data.
  • Consult on strategic decisions to best utilize or adapt current systems during change management efforts.
Work Location

Hybrid – campus attendance as required (3+ days per week, subject to business needs).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Library Science, or Data Science.
  • 4–6 years of professional experience in Business Data Analytics, Financial Planning, or EPM administration; includes at least two years with Anaplan modeling and development.
  • Substitution:
    Education can be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Substitution:
    Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Certified Anaplan Builder.
  • Experience with Oracle People Soft.
  • Experience creating solution tools utilizing multiple data sources.

Employment Conditions
