Field Hardware Support Engineer
Responsibilities & Qualifications In this role you will install, configure, and maintain AV equipment (displays, projectors, audio systems, video conferencing, cameras, control systems) in support of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). The ideal candidate has hands-on IT experience with AV/VTC/Multimedia systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a trusted subject matter expert for staff and leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventive maintenance, fault isolation, and repair of AV hardware in classified and general-purpose spaces.
- Support live events, briefings, and demonstrations; ensure AV systems are operational and provide on-site technical assistance.
- Coordinate with system administrators and vendors for Tier 2/3 escalations and equipment repairs.
- Document all service activities, equipment inventory, and configuration changes in the ITSM/ticketing system.
- Adhere to government security protocols, to include the handling of classified materials and controlled access areas.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and urgent support needs.
- Assist with system upgrades, cabling, and physical infrastructure improvements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 2 years of hands-on field support experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting AV, broadcast, or IT hardware in an operational or mission-critical facility.
Certifications:
- CompTIA Security+
- Manufacturer Trainings (ex. Evertz, Extron, Crestron)
- CTS (CTS-I, CTS-D) preferred
Education:
- Associates degree or equivalent technical/vocational training in electronics, AV, or IT hardware.
- Equivalency:
High school diploma plus 6 years of directly relevant hands-on hardware support experience in lieu of a degree.
Clearance:
- Must possess a Top Secret/SCI with CI poly

WAGE INFORMATION Target salary range: $60,000.00 - $. The salary range displayed is an estimate only and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements. The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
