The Aurora site opened in 1997, and is located just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley. The site has 37 acres of greenhouse and 3 acres of field space. In 2013, we added a 3-acre State-of-the-art glass greenhouse which has allowed the facility to repurpose 40,000 gallons of water every day helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities within the facility, ensuring that all systems and equipment are operating efficiently. This role involves scheduling, budgeting, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, coordinating vendors/contractors, and ensuring the facility is functioning properly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and automated systems.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and system performance metrics.
- Lead a team of maintenance technicians, provide training and coaching, and manage their performance.
- Manage inventory for all maintenance supplies, and replacement parts.
- Participate in meetings, prepare reports, and communicate the status of projects.
- Communicate with other departments regarding repair work in progress and overall operational efficiency.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of ventilation systems, and other climate control equipment.
- Manage the repair and calibration of sensors and controllers used for monitoring temperature, light, and humidity levels.
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues promptly, including breakdowns, power outages, or equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, equipment safety procedures, such as lockout tagout and workplace hazards.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of maintenance, including electrical, heating, boilers, ventilation and irrigation systems.
- Strong analytical skills to quickly assess and resolve complex maintenance issues.
- Proficient in MS Office and CMMS software.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Proficiency in managing budgets, tracking inventory and negotiating with vendors.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Associate degree in business, mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance, facilities management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6 + years of repair maintenance experience; strong electrical, mechanical and industrial skills with PLC, VFD, and HVAC.
- 4 or more years in managing or supervising experience.
- Availability for occasional after- hours or weekend shifts to address urgent maintenance needs.
- Work indoors and outdoors, exposure to varying temperatures and humidity levels.
- Ability to lift to 75 pounds and perform physical labor, including climbing ladders and working in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead and from side to side for long periods of time.
- Balance and stability for safely working at varying heights.
- Perform duties using hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
- Fine motor skills to handle tools, small parts, irrigation components and delicate plants.
- Good hearing to detect alarms, equipment sounds, and understand verbal instructions, in a loud environment.
- Tolerance for working with or around plant soil, chemicals, and fertilizers as well as exposure to water and dust.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and protective eyewear as necessary.
$85,000 - $95,000 per year
