POSITION PURPOSE

The General Manager – Processing Center is the single-point owner of end-to-end site execution. This role is accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People at the facility level and ensures flawless daily execution aligned with BYLD’s production plan, BYLDPro system, and enterprise standards. The GM translates enterprise strategy into operational reality, leads cross-functional teams, enforces standard work, and prepares the site to scale into BYLD’s future smart-factory model.

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a warehouse supervisor position.

CORE

ACCOUNTABILITIES (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

The GM owns outcomes, not activities.

  • Safety & Compliance
    • Full accountability for site safety performance (zero tolerance culture).
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, internal BYLD safety standards, and equipment certifications.
    • Lead safety walks, audits, corrective actions, and incident investigations.
    • Ensure safe handling of cold-formed steel, machinery, automation, and material flow.
  • Operational Execution & Throughput
    • Own daily production output vs plan.
    • Ensure smooth material flow from receiving → processing → staging → shipping.
    • Eliminate bottlenecks through staffing, layout, sequencing, and standard work.
    • Drive OEE improvement, downtime reduction, and labor efficiency.
  • BYLDPro, ERP & Data Discipline
    • Act as site owner of BYLDPro execution discipline.
    • Ensure:
      • Accurate inventory transactions
      • WIP tracking
      • Shipping confirmations
      • Labor reporting
    • Enforce real-time, clean data feeding enterprise dashboards.
    • Partner with Process Engineering and IT on continuous digital adoption.
  • Quality Ownership
    • Ensure outgoing product meets BYLD quality standards and customer requirements.
    • Own scrap, rework, and non-conformance reduction at site level.
    • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Maintain inspection discipline and traceability.
  • Financial & Cost Accountability
    • Own site-level operating performance, including:
      • Labor cost per unit
      • Overtime control
      • Scrap & rework cost
      • Material losses
    • Manage site operating budget within approved limits.
    • Identify and execute cost improvement initiatives without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • People Leadership & Org Development
    • Build, lead, and develop the site leadership team (Warehouse Leads, Supervisors).
    • Ensure:
      • Clear roles & responsibilities
      • Training plans
      • Cross-skilling and bench strength
    • Conduct regular performance reviews.
    • Enforce BYLD leadership behaviors and accountability culture.
  • Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement
    • Enforce enterprise standard work, layouts, and operating models.
    • Partner with Director of Process Engineering on:
      • Layout optimization
      • Equipment selection
      • Automation readiness
    • Lead Kaizen, Lean, and Six Sigma-based improvements at site level.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Act as the site execution interface to Central Planning, Process Engineering, Quality Leadership, Logistics, and IT / BYLDPro Team.
    • Escalate risks early and propose solutions, not excuses.
  • WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
    • Not a warehouse-only role
    • Not a clerical inventory role
    • Not a passive caretaker position

    This role runs the facility.

    SITE VARIANTS (SCOPE & COMPLEXITY)

    SMALL SITE (e.g., Denver – Pilot / Early Stage)

    • Typical Characteristics: ~20–40 employees;
      Limited shifts (1–2);
      Lower automation
    • GM is highly hands-on

    Additional Expectations:

    • Direct involvement in daily scheduling
    • May temporarily cover Warehouse Lead responsibilities
    • Strong execution focus during ramp-up

    MEDIUM SITE (e.g., Atlanta – Growth Phase)

    • Typical Characteristics: ~40–80 employees;
      Multiple shifts;
      Higher throughput
    • Dedicated supervisors in place
    • Additional Expectations:
      Strong delegation & leadership cadence;
      Tight labor planning and shift optimization;
      Focus on throughput stability and cost control

    LARGE SITE (e.g., Ohio / Future Flagship)

    • Typical Characteristics: 80–150+ employees;
      Multi-shift / high automation;
      Strategic site within BYLD network
    • Additional Expectations:
      Full leadership-team management;
      Heavy focus on OEE, automation readiness, and scalability;
      Acts as benchmark site for BYLD standards
