The City of Aurora is seeking a Facilities Trades Supervisor to guide our daily maintenance operations and support a talented team of Electricians, Plumbers, and HVAC Technicians. The hiring rate for this role is $82,784 - $103,480 annually.

Salary to be commensurate with experience.

Position overview

The Facilities Trades Supervisor oversees skilled trades staff and daily maintenance operations to ensure that the City of Aurora facilities remain safe, reliable, and well maintained. The role provides technical guidance, assigns and prioritizes work, and supports preventive maintenance and facility improvement projects. It serves as a key liaison for internal departments, contractors, and regulatory partners to ensure timely, high quality service delivery.

Through strong leadership and operational oversight, the Trades Supervisor helps safeguard City assets and supports an efficient, customer focused Facilities Operations division.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, schedule, and evaluate a team of skilled trades personnel that include Electricians, Plumbers, and HVAC Technicians Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to support staff development and ensure adherence to City standards

Prioritize and assign work orders, projects, and emergency responses

Promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment

Oversee daily maintenance and repair activities for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing for City facilities

Ensure completion of preventive maintenance programs and compliance with regulatory requirements

Troubleshoot complex building system issues and provide technical guidance to staff

Coordinate contractor work, ensuring quality control and adherence to specifications

Assist in planning and executing small to medium scale facility improvement projects

Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates; provide input on scope, materials, and scheduling

Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines

Maintain accurate records of work orders, asset data, inspections, and maintenance activities

Support budget development by providing input on equipment, and material needs
