Job Summary

The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a nationally recognized leader in clinical care, research, and education related to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and co‑occurring psychological health conditions. MIBH provides specialized, evidence‑based care to active‑duty service members, Veterans, and first responders with persistent and complex symptoms following TBI.

Nature of Work
  • The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a nationally recognized leader in clinical care, research, and education related to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and co‑occurring psychological health conditions. MIBH provides specialized, evidence‑based care to active‑duty service members, Veterans, and first responders with persistent and complex symptoms following TBI.
  • MIBH delivers care through a structured Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that includes comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and individualized treatment planning. Care is provided through a co‑located interdisciplinary team model that integrates conventional Western medicine with evidence‑based integrative therapies.
  • The Director of Finance & Administration is an in‑person position and serves as a strategic and operational leader responsible for the financial stewardship, administrative infrastructure, and long‑term sustainability of the MIBH.
  • MIBH operates within a complex funding model that includes philanthropic support, clinical revenue, grants, and institutional funding. The DFA plays a critical role in advancing a sustainable financial future by diversifying revenue streams, optimizing financial performance, and strengthening operational systems.
  • A central priority of this role is expanding earned revenue through insurance reimbursement and enhancing revenue cycle performance. This includes leadership in billing, coding, and reimbursement optimization to support scalable, high‑quality clinical care.
  • This position represents a unique opportunity to help guide a nationally recognized brain health institute through a pivotal period of growth transitioning from a predominantly philanthropic model to a balanced, sustainable enterprise while preserving innovation and mission impact.
  • The DFA partners closely with the Executive Director, MIBH Leadership, clinical leadership, CU Medicine, and University stakeholders to align financial strategy with clinical operations, research expansion, and national impact.
Role & Organizational Impact
  • The DFA directs all business operations of MIBH and serves as the Fund Administrator, with authority over the Institute's financial resources and administrative infrastructure. The incumbent represents MIBH across the Anschutz Medical Campus, CU Medicine, and the University of Colorado, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and operational integration.
  • This role provides leadership across finance, clinical business operations, grants, human resources, compliance, and administrative systems, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and Institute goals.

      Provides administrative leadership and oversight for staff supporting financial operations, clinical administration, human resources, grants, and reporting functions. Ensures appropriate staffing, structure, and expertise are in place to support clinical reimbursement, billing and coding, grant administration, and day‑to‑day Institute operations.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership & Sustainability (20%)
  • Working with Executive Director and MIBH Leadership team to develop and execute a multi‑year financial strategy to advance long‑term fiscal sustainability.
